Cooking...You can make it better
While growing up when I was a little boy my mum or nan used to put me on the draining board in the kitchen, so to be safe. Here, I would watch them both prepare and cook food, which
always smelt and tasted good. I think this is where I first got excited about cooking, a buzz I still get today.
Still in my teenage years, I moved to France, where on arriving, I got a job washing up in a kitchen. I would never want to work full time as a chef, as the hours are long, the kitchen can get very hot and there is a lot of pressure.
I am the cook for Go Provence and because the way that the kitchen is set up, I always have four to five people watching me as I work, which is fun.
Some of the best times we have at Go Provence are had around the table eating and drinking in our garden.
I have been lucky enough, as a young man, to travel around the world and see lots of great sights, sounds and of course tastes. I have been able to bring these experiences to what Ian, Anna and I, have created with Go Provence .
We have seen, over the years, lots of holiday makers come and go and seeing them try new things is such a thrill, especially new and different types of food.
Last year, we introduced Provençal cooking week which was a huge success. This year we thought we use my travel experiences to dictate which foods to cook. So we came up with World cooking week.
We hope to try a new recipe out every day, go to the markets and source the ingredients for the evening meal.
We will be lucky enough to have some holiday makers this year, whose family come from some of the country’s we have chosen to cook meals from, Israel and Greece.
